《獨眼巨人博士》是由知名导演Ernest B. Schoedsack 执导的一部科幻片，阿爾伯特·德科 Thomas Coley Jani 等倾情出演，该片讲述了：　　"Dr. Cyclops" ; is know  n as one of th e better "early sci-fi "  film  s, made i n '3 9 and released in 1940.  (It is also in col or.) But  while the story  has potential and  there are  some  good moments, this is a very confus ed film.　　Th e plot  is simple -  crazy mad scientist on some remote island can   shrink anim  als, and wants to try i t on humans. H  e manages this on a scientific team that came  to check thi ngs o ut. They get  angry, a nd the crazy scienti st eventually gets r eally an gry  because his new shrunken su bjects  won&  #39;t cooperate  .　　The thing  is, the film d oesn';t seem to know if it wants to be a thriller,  or a goofy mo vie. Dr. C yclops (n ever called th at but refere nced to a Cyclops aft er one lens in his glass es breaks) looks cool in his "30's style sci-fi helmet" as he performs experi ments and can be chilling at tim es. Bu t there is so much " ;Disney-st yle goo fy musi c"  going on that it is hard to take an ything ser iously.  The music belongs in a family c omedy for  the most part, and is play ed when the shrun ken people  do things l  ike try to survive, and creep around the f loor. Add that a few of them  have pretty gruesome d eath   s and that jus t add s to t he confusing  atmosphere.　　The FX are n't so bad but n othing  specia l. The   giant sets built are pret ty im pressive t  hough.  There is a scene wh  ere li ttle fires are tossed a  t a real crocod ile9;s head which probably made animal act ivists ang ry.　　It  also takes a long time for anything to really ha ppen. Th is movie  could hav e been don  e in a nice tight half-hour. Good for  a viewing, but you  probably won't wat ch again.
